Commuting and parking within Paris in no time

How can unused parking lots be made available to the largest amount of people?

Paris Habitat has an important patrimony of vacant parking lots for rent, located close to Paris. The social landlord suggests to make available those places in order to promote a change for alternative active transportation, adapted to traffic constraints within Paris. The experimentation will take place in two parkings located in busy zones (19 and 20 districts). The project requires to create an API from geo-tracking make available by drivers.

WINNING STARTUP : PARKINGMAP

// USE CASE

Let’s take the example of Marie, inhabitant of the Seine-et-Marne suburb, but working in the 10th district of Paris. Nearby her place, there exists no public transport to take her to the office. She is thus forced to go by car. Doing so, she has to endure road congestion of the Parisian rush hours. Every day, traffic jams lengthen her travel and delay her arrival time. Finally, when parking, she can not find a free space. She is now planning to split her route: she would leave her car near Paris, and then use mass transit for the last miles … and save time! Paris Habitat, major social landlord in France owning around 125 000 housing, have 45 000 parking spots, among which 85 % in Paris. Numerous locations are available for rent close to Paris and many public transports: subway, bus, etc..

// BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

For Paris Habitat, it is a unique opportunity to value its 45 000 parking spaces in more than 500 Parisian parking lots. Sopra Steria will have the opportunity to develop its technologies within the Smart City sector whereas Total will strengthen its efforts of transformation. Everyone will be invited to participate in the current reflections on the travels within the Greater Paris Region and to experiment an innovative and concrete solution.
